spark ibc title

Spark IBC is an interchain-advancement oriented charity. We focus on promoting and rewarding decentralization and innovation throughout the greater Cosmos by encouraging, organizing, and gamifying the contribution experience. We intend to focus on chain agnostic efforts, one's that will benefit all chains and users in the Cosmos.

Spark IBC's whole system revolves around our two funds, and our Spark Score system. Users can come to SparkIBC.zone and donate to pro-IBC efforts to increase their on-chain address's Score. For detailed info, please see our white paper and our Medium Blog.

Spark Score

When users donate to either fund through Spark IBC, they will get SPARK tokens minted into their wallet at a 1:1 ratio with the USD value of their donation. This is a non-transferable CW20 token on Juno Network, and as such, we actually try to refer to them as Spark Points or the Spark Score. While these tokens have no monetary value, they act as an immutable and reliable metric of how much a given on-chain address has given back to the IBC ecosystem. In addition, Spark will continually work to reward users for their Spark Score in non-monetary ways. Our leaderboard helps to provide some fun competition and customization options for your own wallet, as well as provide a place where you can check on validators and how much they've contributed. Beyond that, however, we also want to integrate with Dapps across the Cosmos, and provide Spark donors with cool quality-of-life and aesthetic options, only available to them, when on those platforms.

Campaign Fund

The campaign fund is part of two sections on our site's main page, with the other being the General Fund. The Campaign Fund will host specific efforts for pre-defined time periods, and users may get info on these efforts by scrolling down on our main page, or by joining the discussion on any of our social channels. Donating to Campaign funds will reward the user with Spark Points in a 1:1 fashion with the USD value of their contribution, as well as the occasional NFT that acts as a virtual badge, proving you contributed to a certain campaign. Details such as funding goals, as well as where the funds will go after donating, can all be found upon scrolling down.

General Fund

The Spark IBC General Fund is a donation channel that is open at all times and serves as a general source of funds for the Spark team and its community. While this is not a DAO, and users are not able to directly vote on the usage of the funds, Spark IBC will always see itself as working for the community, and as such, we will always be open to suggestions and ideas from our users. Check out the #general-fund-discussion channel in our Discord to become part of the process! Some uses for the General Fund include, but are not limited to:

  • Small community contests
  • Subsidizing (certain) campaigns that fall short (within 10%) of funding goals
  • Compensating Spark IBC volunteer work
  • Hack & Exploit remittance
  • Minor infrastructure incentives (e.g. buying a deserving validator better hardware)
  • Incentivizing campaigns & other efforts

Spark IBC operates on a donation based model, where anyone or any entity can donate funds through the Spark IBC website and smart contract built on the Juno Network. Spark IBC is not, however, a registered charity, and donations cannot be claimed as tax-write offs at this time. Additionally, Spark IBC operates as is, and comes with no guarantees as to the usage of funds. Upon donating through the Spark IBC contract, users forfeit their assets in their entirety, including to but not limited to any and all expectations pertaining to the usage of said assets.
